Day 68 Kirkcaldy to Edinburgh

Monday 30th of August

64 Miles, 5 hours 30 minutes.

Weather: Dry, warm and sunny

Accommodation: Mathew Borland and Cathy Clyne

The strong winds had thankfully finally abated and the weather conditions were almost perfect for cycling today. The ride was additionally made easier, not only by generally flattish terrain, but by the fact I had company for the whole day – Allan (my host the previous night) decided to cyclce with me on his tourer all the way to Edinburgh where I was introduced to Caroline (sister) and Graham (brother in law) who very generously made a £100 donation (many thanks).

Edinburgh looked great in the sunshine as I cycled down Princes Street taking in the views (castles, Arthur’s seat, etc). I visited ‘Alzheimer Scotland’ head office in the city centre where I finally met up with Kirsty Jardine (my main contact there) and her colleagues – photos were then taken as part of a planned press release. Then I cycled a short distance to my accommodation where I met up again with Mathew and Cathy whose path I had crossed in Tongue on the north coast a week and a half ago.
