Day 67 Abernethy to Kirkcaldy

St Andrews 18th Hole Bridge

St Andrews 18th Hole Bridge

Sunday 29th of August

75 Miles, 5 hours 15 minutes.

Weather: Warm, dry and very windy

Accommodation: Allan Raymond and Debbie Webb

Whilst the strong blustery crosswinds were distinctly unpleasant and sometimes down right dangerous. I was very lucky today not to be confronted by much in the way of headwinds – consequently the ride proved to be as daunting or tiring as I had anticipated. The highlight of the day was St. Andrews and having photo taken sitting on ‘the’ famous bridge on the 18th hole of the Old Course with clubhouse in the background. Reached ¾ distance (3750 miles) at Pittenween (near Arstruther). Debbie and Allan (my hosts this evening) drove out to meet me at Lundin Links and then Allan cycled with me the last 12 miles back to their home in Kirkcaldy. Alter met Dougie and Latto (one of Allan’s cycling mates) who kindly came around and checked my bike over, giving it the ‘all clear’ after having made just one or two adjustments.
