Day 66 Montrose to Abernethy

Perth Crossing the Tay

Perth Crossing the Tay

Saturday, 28th August 62 Miles, 4 hours 41 minutes.

Weather: Cool, dry and windy.

Accommodation: The Crees Inn

Not a pleasant days ride – the first 50 miles into a strong headwind and then had a puncture coming out of Perth with only 10 miles to go (2 minutes earlier had a conversation outside Tesco’s with a cyclist named Roddy about only having had 3 punctures so far). Only consolation, I suppose, at least the route was fairly flat. Between Montrose and Arbroath cycled down to beautiful looking beach at Lunan Bay (Alan Percival’s recommendation for the day), passed golf course at Carnoustie approaching Dundee.

I managed to avoid the busy A90 between Dundee and Perth by cycling on minor road running parallel to it and the Firth of Tay.
Whilst I was having dinner at my accommodation, I met Maggie and Alan (friends of Debbie and Allan who I will be staying with tomorrow night in Kirkcaldy) who had suggested staying here at the Crees Inn in Abernethy.
