Weather: Dry, cool and very windy.

Another day’s ride governed by the wind. The 20 mile ride from Thurso to John O’Groats took just over an hour thanks to advantageous wind and flat terrain. However, in the afternoon having turned south out of John O’Groats, cycling the 20 miles to wick took nearly 2 hours – the strong headwind or gusting crosswind made for a very tricky and unpleasant ride. In between, I met up again with the Sedgwick Family from Annan in the company of several relatives and friends –managed to surprise 12 year old daughter Billie and Father Ed as they completed their Land’s End to John O’Groats ride in aid of Cancer Research. In a twist of fate their aunt/sister had sadly passed away with cancer during the ride and so I felt I could relate to and understand how they must be feeling. Numerous celebratory group photos were taken at the signpost and we have made a promise to keep in touch.
