Day 55 Ullapool to Oldshorebeg

Badcall Bay

Badcall Bay

Tuesday 17th of August 94 Miles, 8 hours 11 minutes.

Weather: Cold, wet and misty to start. Warmer and brighter later.

Accommodation: Stuart and Elaine McHugh

A long hard gruelling ride today – Made good distance despite awful weather conditions at start of the day and continuous hill climbing throughout (included a 1 in 4 approaching Ullapool on the Drumbeg Road). Unable to enjoy scenery on section from Ullapool to Ardvreck Castle ruins because of rain and mist, but as weather improved through rest of the day I was able to appreciate amazing views all the way from Lochinver to my accommodation.

I didn’t stop for a proper lunch today, but instead had 3 short snack stop, the one at Elphin Tea Rooms was provided at no cost and the money saved was donated to the charity. The roads were pleasantly quiet with traffic all day.
