Day 21 Aberdovey to Pwllheli

Portmeirion

Portmeirion

Saturday, 26th of June.

Aberdovey to Pwlllheli, 75 miles. 5 hours 19 minutes.

Accommodation - Crown Hotel.

Weather - Hot and sunny.

Phil was in Portmeirion, Penrhyndeudraeth when I spoke to him at about 1:30pm, famous for being the set of "The Prisoner" (The real one, not the more recent imitation).

The smile was back on Phils face today. The road was relatively flat all day, wind favourable and scenery stunning. Phil entered Snowdonia National Park and cycled along it's periphery where it meets the coast. Amazing views of mountains one side and great sea views the other sas the road hugged the coastline all the way from Aberdovey to Porthmadog. Also enjoyed detouring up and back down two forested river estuaries.

Photo 1 - The popular coastal town of barmouth at the mouth of the mawddach estuary.
Photo 2 - View overlooking beach at Harlech (unfortunately overshot turning for castle on descent!).
Photo 3 - At the entrance to Portmeirion which featured famously as 'the Village' in the cult TV series 'The Prisoner'.
