Day 6 Plymouth to Mevagissey

Friday 11th June

Plymouth - Gorran Haven (Near Mevagissey). 68 miles.5hr 28mins.

Weather - Hot/Sunny.

Accomodation - Alan and Betty Watmore.

When I spoke to him last night, Phil was a bit daunted by this stretch, as it has a lot of hills in it and most of them are up! At the end of the trip he will be staying with Jayne's mum and dad. According to him (he may be exaggerating) they are in an Alpine eyrie, up switch-back 1 in 3 dirt tracks. So unless they have a cable car, he is going to be a bit of mess by the time he gets there...

Actually, Phil had his best cycling day so far as far as fitness is concerned. He had been a bit down when I had spoken to him the night before. However, he managed to get in 69 miles, and happily made the last section which wasnt quite so daunting as he had previously thought.

Photo 1 - About to cycle across Tamar Bridge in background. With early 7am start made good progress today - legs felt better and again there was generally a following wind. Good lunch at Sam's in Fowey.

Photo 4 - Phil, somehow manages to find the Crown Inn, he thinks he may have taken a wrong turn!
